Designing with Laguna Tropic for a Summer Campaign

It was 8:45 AM and I was staring at my screen, trying to finalize the visual assets for a summer product launch. The campaign needed a fresh, energetic vibe that screamed "vintage beach vibes" without sounding cliché. That’s when I landed on Laguna Tropic—a display font duo that felt like the perfect match for the retro surf culture we were aiming to evoke.

Laguna Tropic is a serif and sans display font inspired by tropical resorts, vintage beach motels, and endless summer days. It carries a warm, playful energy that immediately made me think of palm trees, sunsets, and boardwalks. The contrast between its serif and sans variations allowed me to create visual interest while keeping the message clear and approachable.

I started by using the serif version for the main headline of our Instagram carousel post. It had enough weight and character to stand out against the bright background but still felt readable even on smaller screens. For the supporting text, I switched to the sans variant. It kept things light and modern, which helped balance the overall design without overwhelming the viewer.

One of the biggest challenges in social media design is ensuring your message is clear within seconds. Laguna Tropic helped here. Its clean lines and friendly curves gave the visuals an instant sense of warmth and familiarity. When paired with bold colors and retro textures, it elevated the entire look from generic to memorable.

I used the font across several key elements: the main banner for the product launch, the call-to-action buttons in the email newsletter, and even the captions on our YouTube thumbnails. Each time, it reinforced the campaign’s theme without needing extra explanation. That kind of clarity is gold in a world where attention spans are short and competition is fierce.

For the Pinterest campaign, I leaned into the font’s versatility. I created a series of pins featuring different versions of the same headline, each styled slightly differently. Some used the serif type for a more classic feel, others used the sans for a modern twist. This small variation kept the content fresh and engaging for audiences scrolling through the feed.

Readability was a priority, especially for mobile users. I tested how the font looked at various sizes and distances. The serif style worked well for larger headlines, while the sans version performed better in smaller formats like thumbnails or app banners. Both styles maintained legibility even when compressed or viewed quickly on a phone screen.

When it came to font pairing, I opted for a clean sans serif companion to keep the design balanced. The contrast between the two fonts added depth without clashing. It was a strategic choice that helped guide the viewer’s eye from the headline down to the supporting text, making the message easier to follow and remember.

I also took advantage of the font’s multilingual support, which was crucial since the campaign targeted both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. Knowing that the font would render consistently across languages gave me peace of mind and saved time during the localization process.

Another thing I checked before finalizing the design was the licensing. Since the campaign included digital ads, branded templates, and merchandise, I made sure the font had proper commercial use rights. This step ensured that everything we created was legally sound and ready to go live without any hiccups.

Using Laguna Tropic wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about creating a cohesive brand experience. From the first glance to the final click, every element of the campaign had a consistent tone and visual identity. That kind of consistency builds trust and makes the brand more recognizable over time.

Whether you're launching a new product, promoting a seasonal sale, or building a content series around a theme, Laguna Tropic offers a unique way to communicate your message with clarity and charm. It works best for short headlines, decorative titles, and logo-style text, making it a versatile asset for any designer or marketer looking to add a touch of nostalgia and fun to their visuals.

As I hit send on the final campaign assets, I couldn’t help but smile. The right font can make all the difference, and Laguna Tropic had done exactly that. It didn’t just fit the theme—it brought it to life in a way that felt authentic and engaging.
